The Original Console

The Playstation is the very first of the playstation consoles to be released by Sony. It was released in 1994. It is the predecessor of the now more recent Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, Playstation Vita, and Playstation 3.

5th Generation ConsoleEdit

Being one of the 5th Generation consoles, its close competitors the Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 64, also sold particularly well. By March 31st 2005, the Playstation and its smaller brethren the PSone had shipped 102.49 million units, being the very first video games console to sell over 100 million of its kind.

The Playstation and PS1 could use the following equipment.

  • Playstation Controller
  • Dual Shock Controller with analog and vibration function.
  • Memory Card.

Some of the later Playstation Games could be played by using the Analog sticks, some people mostly favour these as to the regular D-Pad. Also coming with the Dual Shock controller was the use of a vibration function, enabling a more real experience when playing the games.

To save your progress through games, the Playstation utilised a Memory Card system, by inserting the Memory Card into the front of the console, it enables the player to save the game. The first memory cards normally add enough room for 15 saves of various games.
